So now that Capcom's takeover defense has crumbled to bits and their liable to be taken over/bought-out, we can speculate who can buy them and what would happen. I'm not going to go over who'll most likely buy them; there's absolutely no way to know who will end up with Capcom in their hands. Anyway, let's get started:
Nintendo:
The "same ol' same ol" hands-off approach would most likely happen if Nintendo bought 'em out. However, I don't think Nintendo would just leave Capcom to their own devices; Nintendo's quite liable to try and unfuck Capcom. I think Nintendo would let Capcom develop for whatever platform they wish and Nintendo would snatch a few bucks here and there, but their previous acquisitions would disagree with me (HAL Labs, GameFreak, Retro, etc.).
In a nutshell, I believe Nintendo would break their streak of laissez-faire treatment of their 2nd-parties and patch up Capcom's boat. Japan is Nintendo's for the taking if they do acquire them.
Microsoft:
An easy purchase if the top brass at MS can be convinced to step up funding of the Xbox division. They tend to take note when a division of theirs loses $6Bn of their money, just sayin'. In the case of MS purchasing them, they'd definitely be telling them what to do. Chances are that they'll let what's left of Capcom's management sort out personnel. MS would definitely try to use them in order to finally get a foothold in Japan. The new Monster Hunter only on Xbox LIVE? Yup.
I think MS would be to Capcom like EA was to Bullfrog and Maxis. MS would have a crap ton of games out per year and could get more than just a splinter of the market share in Japan.
Sony:
Pretty much the same as Nintendo, except there's a 100% chance of all of Capcom's work being exclusive to Sony's consoles. Of course, the 1st thing that would be done is for no one to have the Monster Hunter license ever again. Sony's still hurting from the broken bond with Capcom's very popular series.
EA:
I'd cry, for various reasons, if this happens. You'll immediately see a drop-off in quality from the yearly releases (or, in Battlefield's case, a "glorified beta" release at full retail price and the game you should have gotten released maybe a year later at full price. So, an increase in quality of the same game for a year, then it stagnates since it's pretty much the same game).
Also, remember Capcom's DLC practices? Yeah. I remember Capcom's DLC practices. Not only would EA embrace this, but they'll exacerbate them. EA's a catalyst of nickel-and-diming.
The only thing EA would probably keep the same is Monster Hunter on the 3DS. After that, it's "Buh-bye, Nintendo!" Peter Moore is such a bad liar. An "unprecedented partnership," eh? Maybe with MS always sucking your dick, perhaps. With Nintendo? Nah. Actions>Words. Expect a lot of "Xbox get it first" BS, I'd say.
Facebook:
Facebook would be the most likely to keep the current management intact, so you'd still be looking at the same ol' C[r]apcom you've been seeing for the past near-decade. They'd definitely have them developing some exclusives for the Oculus Rift. Maybe a first-person Monster Hunter in VR. Quite the way to capture the imagination.
Not much to say here. I don't have much to go off of, since Capcom isn't Zynga and Facebook doesn't own any developers like Capcom.
Amazon:
Unlike Facebook though, I have literally nothing to go off of since they haven't done shit with Double Helix yet. I can say this though; Amazon would be a catalyst for Capcom's mobile gaming dreams.
Samsung:
What a way to get a foothold in the gaming biz. They could be the same catalyst for Capcom's mobile gaming dreams while working on getting a game console ready. Unfortunately, that whole "MS selling off Xbox" thing didn't fall through, so perhaps Samsung would try to create their own opportunity by getting Capcom. Would shake some shit up if I do say so myself.
SEGA:
I believe that, after they clean house and kick the brass off of Capcom, they'd treat Capcom the same as they treat Atlus. Maybe they'd even go into more deals with Nintendo. In any case, SEGA buying Capcom would be MAJOR. SEGA would become a force.
#Dreamcast2
Apple:
Lol you think Apple's that fucking stupid? Their main rival lost over $6Bn competing in the gaming biz.
Alas, if they do acquire them, Capcom would be mainly a mobile games developer andpeople companies would have to shell out a small fortune just to get some Capcom games on their system. Stuff like that.
