Hyper Light Drifter is set for the Wii U, PS Vita, PS4, PC, and Xbox One in late 2014, early 2015. Joystiq has round-up a bunch of new information on the combat and co-op the indie title offers.
Thanks to GoNintendo for the bullet point list of information:
- combat mode is a solo or co-op experience
- starts in a training room lined with dummy targets
- this room also has a platform that recharges your magic
- a door with rune symbols on it locks away the real challenge, which you can enter when ready
- right trigger lets you see a circle of weapons and map the ones you want to the Y or B buttons
- weapons include an enemy-seeking mine ball, a shotgun that
shoots in a diamond formation, a boomerang, and a close-up attack that
embeds a fucshia crystal in an enemy, which you then detonate into huge
crystal splinters
- these attacks drain magic
- A is dash, and X is a sword slash
- left trigger displays magic and health bars, and your weapons
- local co-op only
- the rifle emits a thin beam that you hold down until the character flashes, and then you fire
- if you connect with a target, it will automatically die
- the diamond shotgun is useful against crowd
- the boomerang is strong against crowds as well
- the mine will follow enemies before it explodes
- explosions can hurt you and your partner
- the sword is reliable against grunts
- fight off a minotaur-esque creature, taller and wider than the grunts
- his special attack is jumping so high he disappears from the screen and then smashs down on the battlefield
- some enemies drop squares of magic to recharge your stones
- there are just four points of extra health on the map, one in each corner
- when either character gets close to death, the entire screen starts fading to black
- you can see how much health you have exactly with a quick press of the left shoulder button
- targeting late 2014/early 2015 for release
